Overview

The Associate Fundamental Equity Analyst is responsible for conducting qualitative company, sector and industry group research in support of the International Equity strategy. The Analyst will also conduct in-depth company research, have familiarity with financial statement analysis, a strong understanding of basic statistics, the ability and willingness to collaborate in a team-centric environment and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The Associate Fundamental Equity Analyst will work primarily in support of the equity portfolio management team and in conjunction with the quantitative research team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Understanding the investment process and portfolio needs to produce timely and actionable investment ideas.
  • Describing and analyzing a company’s competitive landscape and financial position;
  • Identifying a company’s revenue sources, business model, opportunities and risks.
  • Reviewing a company’s score in our proprietary quantitative model for reasonableness, data sufficiency or other potential issues.
  • Producing written company-specific investment recommendations utilizing KOCAA’s company review template to convey the analyst’s opinion on the company's attractiveness as an investment
  • Updating investment views of portfolio and key companies based on quarterly earnings reports and critical events
  • Understanding & identifying underlying industry group structures, regulatory environments and developing trends to identify actionable investment themes.   
  • Working with the portfolio managers to perform ad hoc analysis or reports, as needed
  • Working with the quantitative research team to identify industry group specific stock selection factors.
  • Running periodic and ad hoc reports and analysis for the portfolio management team, client service and sales and marketing, as needed
  • Downloading or manually gathering and analyzing data.

Skills Qualifications

  • An understanding of investment performance, portfolio construction, risk management, accounting methods and/or investment operations are a plus.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, or progress thereto, is a plus
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Excel.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg preferred, proficiency a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or economics.
  • Experience analyzing equity investments and/or financial statements preferred

Compensation

The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Bostont; the Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location.  At the Knights of Columbus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $69,600-115,000.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a majority of the workday.
