Overview

Develops and administers the Order's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function. Works with Chief Risk Officer to create and modify risk management policies and processes. Identifies develops and implements strategies for risk assessments to mitigate risks. Conducts ongoing reviews and analyses of potential exposures. Assumes an advisory role and makes recommendations to Chief Risk Officer and senior management. Contributes to reports on risk management to the Board of Directors and prepares reports for regulatory agencies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Works with Chief Risk Officer and Chief Financial Officer to improve and modernize the company's approach to Enterprise Risk, with a focus on practical risk assessment and mitigation to add immediate value to the organization;
  • Utilize industry experience to benchmark KofC's ERM program against most-admired companies and to seek realistic improvement in our program that is both cost-effective and protective of the Order's assets;
  • Updates, reviews and enhances the Order's risk inventory process, including a critical review of past practices to identify opportunities for mitigation and meaningful change.
  • Develops the risk management function with attention to its scope and its impact and where it delivers meaningful value to the Order.
  • Performs ad hoc reviews and projects as needed.
  • Provides support to senior management for financial inquiries and organizational matters.
  • Provides support for reviews performed by external parties and regulators.

Skills Qualifications

Required:
-Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management, as well as risk assessment and risk mitigation strategies; knowledge of life insurance products preferred.
-Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business initiatives, including assessing, creating, and implementing successful corporate policies and procedures, ensuring the change is managed effectively
-Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills and a demonstrated record of building effective working relationships at all organizational levels
-Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
-Strong ability to influence and negotiate effectively
-Outstanding oral and written communications skills
-Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Education

Required:
-BS or BA in Business, Accounting, or other equivalent areas of study
-5+ years of business experience in Enterprise Risk Management, accounting, or insurance industry experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
-CPA, CFE, or other comparable designation desirable

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a majority of the workday.
