Overview

Provides membership training and consultation. Responsible for training of council officers, district deputies and program teams. Conducts regional and virtual seminars for members, leaders, officers, and directors.  Participates in state meetings as assigned. Requires frequent travel, evening, and weekend assignments.

Exercises discretion and independent judgment in coordinating with state deputies and senior executives to identify required training needs and strategic training plans designed to improve the performance of all state, district, and council entities.

 Analyses the effectiveness of all training and makes recommendations for improvements to state deputies and senior executives. Controls the distribution of training resources for assigned areas of responsibility.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conducts training seminars to focus on best practices, Faith in Action programs, membership growth, officer responsibilities, and leadership development.
  • Works with state Councils to provide leadership and educational training for Councils, district and state Council officers, directors, and committee leaders.
  • Works with the Supreme Fraternal Training Division to identify training needs, develop curricula content, deliver lectures, and analyze results.
  • Participates in state/regional/district meetings as directed.
  • Tracks and increases jurisdictional participation in Supreme training webinars and fraternal training modules.
  • Tests new training modules and makes recommendations improvements and additional training courses.

Skills Qualifications

Required:

  • Knights of Columbus membership
  • Fluency in Spanish required.  A native speaker is preferred.
  • Successful officer and director experience required up through and including Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, and District Deputy.  State officer experience is desired.
  • Knowledge of the Knights of Columbus culture, principles, laws, and practices.
  • Understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church and the ability to articulate them.
  • Ability to apply the teachings of the Church and the principles of the Knights of Columbus.
  • Prior knowledge of and experience with local and/or state Council operations.
  • Prior training experience desirable.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong public speaking skills and experience.
  • Ability to motivate individuals and groups toward new actions and behaviors.
  • Ability to work independently day-to-day and as part of a geographically dispersed team.

Education

Education: BA or BS degree

Experience: 3-5 years of public speaking, marketing and presentation experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Compensation

The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut; the Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location.  At the Knights of Columbus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $69,600-115,000.
