Overview

Acts as primary resource in investigating and responding to complaints from members, policyholders and state departments of insurance. Support Compliance investigations related to financial crime, sales practices and other regulatory risk.

Core Responsibilities

  • Receive and timely log complaints into the organization’s Case Management system, assign them to appropriate parties, and ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
  • Investigate, analyze and prepare responses to customer and regulatory complaints.
  • Ensure complaints received from customers and/or state departments of insurance are handled in accordance with the NAIC Model Regulations, and that any appropriate remediation and corrective action is taken.
  • Follow up with appropriate parties to obtain information necessary to address or resolve open complaint cases from the field.
  • Assist in Compliance investigations related to financial crime, sales practices and other regulatory risks; conduct additional research on unique or unidentified exposures and prepare investigative reports.
  • Answer telephone calls from agents, members and policyowners, referring questions to proper area or otherwise handling as appropriate.
  • Monitor Compliance Officer email inbox daily and respond as appropriate or refer to others in the department or organization for proper handling.
  • Prepare complaint and investigation trend analysis and assist with management reporting
  • Assist supervisor with additional team and department responsibilities.

Skills Qualifications

  • Sound practical judgment
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance operations, including policyholder services, claims and sales
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance products and policy provisions
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and the ability to grow effective working relationships at all organizational levels
  • Effective time management and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases utilized by Compliance Department
  • Proficient in the evaluation and use of information technology systems

Education

  • Three to five years of related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • College Degree (preferred)
  • CFE designation (preferred)

Compensation

The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut; the Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location.  At the Knights of Columbus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $69,600 - 115,000.
