Overview
The Membership Growth Specialist supports the development and execution of the Order’s membership growth strategies by analyzing market segments, identifying member needs and preferences, and implementing targeted growth initiatives. This role partners with fraternal leadership, field teams, and internal stakeholders to develop programs, communications, and resources designed to attract, engage, and retain members across diverse demographic segments.The Membership Growth Specialist will develop a deep understanding of current and emerging membership segments, including Hispanic, clergy, college, military, young adult, and other key demographic groups. This position will analyze member behaviors, market trends, cultural needs, and engagement drivers to recommend strategies that strengthen the Order’s ability to serve current members while attracting future generations of Catholic men and their families.
Core Responsibilities
- Supports the VP of Membership Growth in developing and executing comprehensive membership growth strategies aligned with the Order’s strategic objectives and growth priorities.
- Conducts research and analysis of key membership segments, including Hispanic, clergy, college, military, young adult, and other targeted demographics, to understand their unique needs, motivations, expectations, and engagement preferences.
- Develops market intelligence and insights by analyzing demographic trends, membership data, participation patterns, and external market factors to identify opportunities for membership growth.
- Collaborates with Fraternal, Marketing & CX, Communications and other internal teams to develop segment-specific recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies.
- Assists in the design, implementation, and measurement of membership campaigns, programs, and initiatives that support council, jurisdiction, and national growth objectives.
- Develops recommendations for customized resources, messaging, events, and programs that effectively communicate the value proposition of the Knights of Columbus to diverse audiences.
- Supports the development and distribution of membership growth materials, including presentations, communication resources, promotional materials, and best-practice guides for field leaders and councils.
- Assists with planning and execution of membership growth meetings, conferences, state deputy meetings, and other fraternal events.
- Partners with field leadership to gather feedback and identify opportunities to improve member acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and retention processes.
- Maintains awareness of Catholic community trends, demographic shifts, and evolving expectations of members to support continuous improvement of membership growth strategies.
- Provides content and insights for membership-related communications, including Knightline, Fraternal Leader Advisory, Agent Review, and other Order publications.
Skills Qualifications
Required:
- Strong understanding of membership development, customer/member engagement strategies, and relationship management.
- Ability to analyze demographic, membership, and market data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Strong research, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop presentations, reports, and executive-level summaries.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with field leaders, volunteers, and internal business partners.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage projects from concept through execution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience working with databases, reporting tools, and analytics platforms.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the Knights of Columbus structure, mission, programs, and culture.
- Experience working with membership organizations, nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations, or community-based organizations.
- Experience developing programs or communications targeted toward diverse demographic audiences.
- Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred for supporting Hispanic membership growth initiatives.
Education
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, organizational development, nonprofit management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in membership growth, marketing, customer engagement, program management, business analysis, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
- Experience with the Knights of Columbus through membership, council leadership, jurisdiction involvement, or professional experience.
- Knights of Columbus membership preferred.
