Overview
The Senior Editor for Hispanic Audiences will lead the Order’s communication efforts for Spanish and English-speaking Hispanic audiences. Working in close coordination with the Communications teams and with the leadership of other departments, this person will adapt the Order’s overall editorial vision to meet the targeted Hispanic audiences, developing inculturated content that promotes the mission of the Knights of Columbus aims to engage Hispanic men and families.
Core Responsibilities
- To lead the Order’s communication efforts to achieve the Somos Caballeros initiative goal by producing engaging and inculturated messaging that is attuned to the Order’s vision and that meets the spiritual and cultural needs of Hispanic Catholic men and their families, welcoming them into our fraternity.
- Work closely with Communications leaders, the Hispanic Task Force leadership and other staff members to define requirements, develop strategy, and publish timely, excellent, and effective content.
- Draft, edit, manage, and publish content the Order’s communication channels and means, primarily in Spanish, but also in English for Hispanic audiences.
- Oversee revisions, reviewing and editing of content to ensure that both organizational and Spanish language publishing standards are being met.
- Establish effective communication channels with both internal and external resources; attend key team and client meetings as required.
- Promote and foster a strong team culture and open, transparent communication with collaborators.
- Perform related duties as required.
Skills Qualifications
- Native/Bilingual Proficiency in the Spanish language
- Excellent editing and writing skills, in both Spanish and English, with a keen eye for structure and style.
- Strong attention to detail, tone and precision in conveying facts and expressing message
- Knowledge of the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, and understanding of the Hispanic Catholic population in the U.S.
- Time management skills; ability to handle tight deadlines
- Sound judgment; ability to make recommendations
- Able to prioritize tasks effectively
- Must be a supportive teammate and have shown capability of managing others
- Must be social media savvy and understand its uses to further K of C goals and objectives
- Experience with content management systems and other digital publishing tools
- MS Office; familiarity with Adobe InDesign & Acrobat.

Compensation
The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut; the Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location. At the Knights of Columbus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $69,600-115,000.
